Bone Mineral Densitometry

Bone Mineral Densitometry

A BMD scan utilizes low-energy X-rays to measure the density of your bone to diagnose osteoporosis and assess fracture risk. These bone density measurements are compared to the norms of past quantitative studies of various age groups and from there; results are then generated to predict the likelihood of possible fracture in a time frame.

Preparation

There is no special preparation required.

No fasting is required and you can eat and drink normally and continue to take your usual medications.
